In hospitals, responsibility of administration of medicines, oral or par- enteral to patient is of nurse. In other words,orders of a doctor are carried by nurse. In a case,where IM injection in upper arm caused wrist drop in a patient and a doctor and a nurse both were asked to pay a fine of Rs.5 lacs for this medical negligence. My query is it medical negligence?

Why doctor is fined? How to avoid such situations in future? Could wrong site of injection be the cause? Kindly share.
