Raised TSH values and normal T3 T4 levels.Brand the patient as Sub Clinical Hypothroidism and hurry to put them on Medication. Are we justified in the diagnosis where there are no clinical signs of hypothyroidism? When should a thyroid hormone be analysed?
It is also strange that sub clinical hypothyroidism has become a lab diagnosis rather than a clinical diagnosis. Each lab gives different values and does the time of the day affect the hormones. W hat medications should be avoided before analyzing a patient for SCH? I suppose this may help us in the long run.
