This study investigates the presence of localized bacteremia in the alveolar sockets following tooth extractions in both type II diabetic and non-diabetic patients. The results indicate that diabetic patients exhibit a higher prevalence of specific bacterial species, including Streptococcus and Enterococcus , compared to non-diabetic individuals. These findings suggest that t ooth extractions may serve as a potential entry point for bacteria into the bloodstream, especially in diabetic patients who have compromised immune responses.
The study emphasizes the importance of considering systemic health conditions when assessing the risk of post-extraction infections and highlights the need for tailored preventive measures in dental care. ##Reference## Nayak A, Kini Y, Bhor K, Yadav V, Ahmed J, Natrajan S.
