Intra-uterine insemination (IUI) with controlled ovarian hyperstimulation can have better outcomes in cases of unexplained subfertility as it increases the gamete density at the site of fertilization. Several reports support the use of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation with IUI as the initial treatment of choice in patients with unilateral proximal tubal occlusion. However, the utility of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation and IUI for other disorders remain a subject of debate.
