The Karnataka government has planned to adopt the “Code Grey Protocol” to strengthen the safety of female doctors, nurses, and other staff. Kerala first established the Code Grey Protocol in March 2024 to alert hospital staff about dangerous or aggressive individuals in the hospital or criminal activity on the campus. In addition, Karnataka has decided to deploy veterans for security, conduct regular security audits, and establish control rooms in medical colleges. The state is also considering providing personal safety devices to all female staff in medical colleges.

These devices can raise alarms or transfer information to the control room during emergencies. The state is planning to make these devices mandatory for female staff.
