Karnataka Medical Council (KMC) has made it mandatory 5 yearly renewal of licence. To be eligible, the doctors have to collect 30 credit points by attending workshops and seminars as part of the continuing medical education (CME) programme. KMC has done it following a directive by the Medical Council of India. News Analysis: Status of CMEs today ( In my view ): 1. Definitely updating knowledge would benefit both patients and the doctors. But, some doctors attend CME seminars only as a formality. The trend may continue.
