Pelviureteric junction obstruction is common in infants and children with hydronephrosis, and the definitive treatment for it is pyeloplasty. Laparoscopic pyeloplasty in adults has the same success rate as the open procedure; however, it is associated with poor cosmetic appearance and postoperative complications. In addition, this procedure is more complicated and time-consuming in infants and children, even though it provides a better outcome.
