A team of doctors at one of the hospitals in Baner has successfully saved the life of a three-day-old newborn diagnosed with a rare and potentially fatal congenital condition, intestinal malrotation with midgut volvulus, through timely diagnosis and emergency surgical intervention. The baby was born at the hospital and was stable immediately after birth. However, on the second day of life, doctors observed difficulty in oral feeding along with repeated episodes of vomiting after feeds.
Recognising these symptoms as critical warning signs in a newborn, the pediatric team immediately initiated urgent investigations to determine the underlying cause.
