Key risk factors include smoking, alcohol consumption, and, increasingly, human papillomavirus infection. The primary interventions for tongue cancer typically involve surgery, complemented by radiation and chemotherapy. The choice of treatment depends on factors such as the stage of the cancer, the overall health of the patient, and the preferences of the medical team and the patient.
