Though bariatric surgery (BS) is effective for treating obesity, understanding and tackling inadequate weight loss (IWL) after BS needs special attention; therefore, enhanced knowledge of the preoperative predictors of IWL helps identify patients at potential risk. A better understanding of the effectiveness and safety of the dietary, pharmacologic, behavioral, and surgical prevention and management strategies will assist in mitigating such problems. Studies reveal that one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB) is more successful than Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) for IWL. Additionally, the procedure time of OAGB is shorter, with lower complication rates up to thirty days after surgery.
