Medical colleges can soon be opened by private companies as per a recently passed resolution by the Medical Council of India. The council general body meeting in Delhi decided to pass this decision, which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the Supreme Court Oversight Committee. MCI Member stated ‘many private institutions are anyway making profit through non-transparent and illegal means.

If we legalize corporate they would charge a very high fee, but they will be forced to pay income tax. There were many recommendations from the members on how this could be done, but a majority thought it was a good idea.
