Scientists have recently identified specific gut bacterial species that modulate the effects of diabetes-inducing-diet on the host’s metabolism. The study concludes that the medical application of specific gut bacteria might help in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus. The gut flora includes hundreds of bacterial species. It is found that an imbalance in the microbiome, or dysbiosis, has associations with adverse health outcomes.
