We all know "Niti Aayog "of govt of India is in the process of reorganizing our body - Medical Council of India. Suggestion from IMA and various professional bodies have been solicited. We on this forum have debated the issue of MCI. So now is the time to put forth our suggestions which may be incorporated while constituting this body. I think few points which needs debate and suggestion are: How do decrease or eliminate corruption? Bring transparency ? How much power the body should have?
Should it work like an appellant authority in medical negligence cases? How should it be reconstituted? Should it have elected members or nominated members? Should we have one judicial member ? A Retired judge of high court / supreme court? Should it now be empowered to decide the amount of compensation in Medical negligence cases? And it should have a separate cell on the lines of Motor Accident…
