The Delhi Medical Council (DMC), will be conducting a survey to estimate the number of quacks in the city. Until now, there is a rough estimate of 50,000 quacks in the city, but there is no proof of authenticity of this figure. Officials say that this number is overestimated because 50,000 quacks means one quack for every 400 residents of Delhi. The survey would help the government to map areas with high number of quacks. This would help them understand which area is not having adequate medical facility.
The focus of DMC would be to create awareness in people who is the “real doctor” and why he should be approached. Once a proper estimate is done, the DMC along with the government would work on having short-term free medical technician courses for these quacks to bring them in the system.
