HbA1c has been the benchmark for assessing the quality of long-term glycemic control and adjustment of therapy. 1,2 Despite its importance as an indicator, there are several important limitations. 1,2 An indispensable adjunct to HbA1c in routine diabetes care is self- monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG). 1,2 SMBG method is now widely used, as it provides immediate feedback to patients on short-term changes, involving fasting, preprandial, and postprandial glucose levels.
