The saphenous vein is a crucial blood vessel in the lower limb connecting the anterior side of the medial malleolus to the saphenofemoral junction near the groin. It is one of the most commonly used grafts during coronary artery bypass surgery. However, despite its importance, physicians more commonly opt for saphenous vein ablation over more conservative approaches to treat venous insufficiencies. Understanding the various novel conservative approaches in treating venous insufficiencies can help us manage this disease better while preserving saphenous vein function.
