Mirikizumab has demonstrated efficacy and safety in adults with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, but evidence in pediatric ulcerative colitis remains limited. To address this gap, a study evaluated the pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety of mirikizumab, a humanised immunoglobulin G4 monoclonal antibody targeting the p19 subunit of interleukin-23 (IL-23), in 26 children aged 11·8 years with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis. The study found that 18 of 26 participants (69.2%) achieved clinical response and 10 (38.5%) achieved clinical remission based on the modified Mayo Score, while 14 (53.8%) achieved endoscopic remission.

Using the Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index, 20 of 26 participants (76.9%) had a clinical response, and 10 (38.5%) achieved remission at week 12. At week 52, 14 (53.8%) maintained clinical response, and 10 (38.5%) were in clinical…
