FDA finds rare serious risks of stroke and blood vessel wall tears associated with the multiple sclerosis drug alemtuzumab. According to the safety statement given by the FDA, in Multiple Sclerosis patients cases of stroke and tears in the lining of arteries in the head and neck have been witnessed shortly after the patients received alemtuzumab. FDA has added a new warning about the risks to the prescribing information on the drug label and patient Medication Guide, as well as to the existing boxed warning stating that the drug could lead to permanent disability and can even prove to be fatal due to cardiac stroke.
