Researchers report that patients with non-metastatic adenocarcinomas of the gastroesophageal transition (AEG) can have better prognoses if their tumor cells produce the signalling molecule "PD-L1". Tumors that develop at the transition of the stomach to the esophagus are called adenocarcinomas of the gastroesophageal transition (AEG) . They are difficult to treat and the recovery chances are also very low, calling for increased research. Here, we summarize research carried out at the Comprehensive Cancer Centre of MedUni Vienna and AKH Vienna and published in the journal ‘OncoImmunology’.
