Pointing towards the shortage of doctors in government hospitals, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced raising the retirement age of government doctors to 65 years. It is worth mentioning here that the retirement age for doctors is 60 in some states and 62 in some others. The Union Cabinet will confirm the decision this week, he further stated. The decision will cover all government doctors whether serving under states or the central dispensation.
Expressing his concern towards the shortage of doctors, Mr. Modi said, “If adequate number of medical institutes were there, then we would have more doctors and would not feel the shortage.
