According to the National Crime Records Bureau, there were 3,647 suicide cases due to drug abuse in India in 2014. Maharashtra reported the highest at 1,372 followed by Tamil Nadu, with 552 cases and Kerala, with 475. The current article provides details about a newly developed vaccine for heroin and opioid abuse. Heroin is a highly addictive and potent painkiller synthesized from morphine, which comes from the seeds of the poppy plant.
