A recent article in a regional news daily says that pharmacists can open a clinic provided they have worked with an MBBS doctor for at least 3 months. Not a big deal ! All pharmacists can manage this requirement with impunity. We have glanced over many such decisions of the Central Govt or higher authorities in the last one year or so where we see that strange methods are being adopted to meet the shortage of qualified doctors in the country to handle the ever rising sickness and disease burden of our nation.
Instead of analytical and progressive approach all regressive and unimplementable decisions are being enforced. For example doctors of any system of Medicine can prescribe Allopathic drugs after some training. Proposal of a bridge course to ayurvedic doctors to equate them with MBBS. Permitting nurses and all doctors of Ayush to carry out medical termination of pregnancy.…
