The National Medical Commission of India has mandated that all medical colleges must ensure patients obtain an Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) ID as a prerequisite for registering for OPD, IPD, or emergency services at their affiliated hospitals. In its 14th meeting, the Commission decided that all patients must be registered with both the ABHA ID and the hospital's registration number. This measure is essential for authenticating patients and clinical materials, impacting decisions on the prospects of a college, such as increasing UG or PG seats, establishing new colleges, and annual renewals of permission or recognition to admit students.
