The Honourable President, Mr. Ramnath Kovind has reissued MCI ordinance on 12 th January, as the government failed to pass the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill in the winter session of the parliament. The ordinance was in reference to allow the scam-tainted Medical Council of India to be run by a committee of Board of Governors appointed sometime back. The Board of Governors will continue their duty till a council is constituted in accordance with the provisions of the MCI Act.
Medical fraternity still hovers over the dark clouds related to the implementation of NMC Bill and its composition. It would be interesting to see, how the big bang reforms undertaken by the health ministry will revolutionise the healthcare in India. Source: Medi Bulletin
