A new smart bandage has been developed by the researchers that can accurately control the dosage and dose delivery frequency of the medication tailored for a specific type of wound, leading to faster healing and ultimately improving patient safety. The newly developed bandage is one of its kind that facilitates dose-dependent drug release. Multiple drugs with different release profiles can be adjusted accordingly. Working This bandage consists of electrically conductive fibers coated in a gel.

The gel can be individually loaded with infection-fighting antibiotics, tissue-regenerating growth factors, painkillers or other medications.
