Scientists at University of Basel, Switzerland have developed a combination therapy that transforms breast cancer cells to fat cells. The combination of anti-diabetic drug Rosiglitazon and MEK inhibitors can convert cancer cells into post mitotic adipocytes, thus inhibiting breast cancer invasion and metastasis in mice.
According to the Professor at Department of Biomedicine, “in future, this innovative therapeutic approach could be used in combination with conventional chemotherapy to supress both primary tumor growth and the formation of deadly metastases.”. Source: Cancer Cell
