In cardiology, there are varieties of causes like rheumatic heart disease, coronary heart disease etc. There is no description of obstetric heart disease in any of the textbooks of Cardiology. Only heart disease complicating pregnancy is noted. I have made the observation in 1983, that a lady of 42 years with no previous history of RF and no symptomatology related to heart and had two normal deliveries without any complication had chest pain for which she was evaluated by me and clinically, echocardiologically as well as operatively found to have mitral stenosis.
Though she did not have ASO positive she was treated with penicillin prophylaxis as per the CTS advice. But I thought that it is something related to pregnancies and delivery.
