When the central retinal vein is blocked blood and fluid split out into the retina macula can swell from this fluid affecting central vision.
Eventually without blood circulation nerve cells in the eye can die. Most common symptoms of CRV occlusion are: Visual loss or blurred vision partly or completely it can happen suddenly or be worse in several hours sometimes one can lose all vision Floaters may be noticed Dark Spots Lines or squiggles in vision in some cases Feeling of pain or pressure CRV occlusion is almost always unilateral.
