A person’s diet can greatly impact his quality of sperm leading to harmful gene mutation in his offspring, scientists have found. Two studies published online this week in Science reveal that sperms from the rodents carry pieces of RNAs that alter the metabolism of their offspring. The epigenetic inheritance i.e transmission of the genetic trait by something other than DNA,  which was once termed impossible by the biologist, is evident to occur according to few recent studies.

Previous studies revealed that sperms from a stressed father might leave a metabolic footprint in their offspring leading to defect in neurodevelopment including autism. Some other study indicated  that fathers who are eating high-fat, junk-food diets before conception or who are obese may not be able to use or metabolize folate in the same way as those on a normal diet or having adequate levels of the vitamin.…
