In stroke, cerebral edema is the main concern which compromises the blood flow to surrounding brain. Almost all the doctors are giving Mannitol infusion which reduces the intracranial tension (ICT). It may be useful in the first few days only but many are following for week, which is unnecessary. The recovery chances of stroke are very few in those who were not treated with oral glycerol but those who were given mannitol indiscriminately.

Luckily, in many cases the treatment is given by nurses or junior doctors following the prescription of consultants.
