Oral mucositis (OM) is the adverse side effect of cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy, and its characteristic features include erythema, ulceration, and atrophy of oral mucosa. Approximately 100% of patients undergoing radiotherapy and 80% undergoing chemotherapy develop OM. It impairs the quality of life and prognosis and increases management costs. OM can be managed by maintaining oral hygiene, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobials, natural medications, laser therapy, and cryotherapy.
