National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) is planning to slash prices of other implants as well after slashing cardiac stent prices. According to the Chairman of NPPA, they are looking at lenses, and knee and hip replacements.The NPPA, which recently slashed stent prices by up to 75%, is a government regulatory agency that controls prices and availability of pharmaceutical drugs, under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1995.
