An interesting new research to be shared regarding ovarian conservation which now is a must during hysterectomy unless there is some abnormality in the ovaries. Preservation of ovaries helps to avoid sudden estrogen withdrawal and menopausal symptoms. However, the future occurrence of ovarian cancer is always a concern.
However new research shows most ovarian cancers originate in the Fallopian tubes, which shed dysplastic cells. Hence, remove the tubes during hysterectomy while preserving the ovaries and cancer risk is reduced.
