Recent nationwide analyses reveal that children born during the COVID-19 pandemic experienced higher rates of delayed milestone achievement, especially in socio-emotional and language domains , when compared with pre-pandemic peers. The most pronounced risks were linked to prenatal and early-life stress—socially vulnerable families faced the greatest challenges. However, most pandemic-born children have exhibited notable resilience, with only a modest increase in developmental delays overall.
