Individuals affected with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), a developmental disability, usually show challenges in communicating and interacting socially. Additionally, they also exhibit restricted or repetitive behaviors or interests and developmental delays. Early diagnosis of ASD is important to ensure the timely delivery of services and support to help such children reach their full potential. Staying aware of the peculiar characteristics enables parents, early childhood education providers, and caregivers to participate in the developmental monitoring of children.
