A Navi Mumbai-based businessman has alleged that he permanently lost vision in his left eye due to medical negligence during cataract surgeries performed by a father-son ophthalmologist duo. The 67-year-old patient has filed complaints with the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) and the Mumbai police, claiming that the doctors ignored his diabetic condition and bypassed critical pre-operative precautions. In December 2024, the businessman initially consulted the ophthalmologists, informing them about his uncontrolled diabetes.
Despite raising concerns, he was persuaded to undergo cataract surgery on his right eye on December 31, after paying ₹70,000.
