Perioperative deep vein thrombosis is common & Etiology was first prescribed by Virchow's & today still they stand unchanged known as Virchow's Triad 1 Endothelial injury 2 stasis (alteration in blood flow) 3 alterations in constitution of blood hypercoagulanle blood)  Risk factors: age >50yrs type of surgery trauma immobility , paresis, malignancy cancer therapy hypercoagulanle state previous h/o dvt pregnancy estrogen therapy MI 12 AF/ cardiac dysfunction diabetes AC medical illness  Grading of TE risk: Level of throbolism Gr 1 Low Risk - minor surgery, no additional risk factors, age >40 yrs  Moderate Risk: age >40 yrs , with risk factors or age 40-60 yrs no additional risk High Risk: Age >60 years, with Risk factors  Perioperative thrombotic syndrome - The postoperative patients offers different risk factors compared to ambulatory & hospitalised medical patients.
