People with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are at significantly increased risk for multisystem morbidity and mortality. The increasing burden of the disease emphasizes an unmet need for pharmacologic treatment options for this patient population. The underlying pathophysiologic mechanisms that contribute to the development and progression of NASH are complex and reflected by the myriad of therapies under investigation, affecting different targets of engagement.
