. Pilonidal sinus is a skin wound in the buttock region that may be filled with pus or fluid, causing cyst or abscess. It is most common in men and young adults. Treatment of pilonidal sinus may vary with symptoms, size of the sinus, and its frequency. It includes lancing, conservative treatment such as broad-spectrum antibiotics, phenol injection, and surgery. The optimum treatment should lead to symptomatic relief and better outcomes.
