In a series of post-operative chest radiographs on a 66 year old man following a right pneumonectomy, it shows (Image1) 80% opacification of the pneumonectomy space and expected ipsilateral mediastinal shift on Post-operative day-21. Post-operative day-25 (Image 2) and post-operative day-29 (Image 3) chest radiographs show a marked drop in the air-fluid level and bubbles of air layering below it. The mediastinum is now midline. Chest radiograph on post-operative day-33 (Image 4) shows a further drop in the air-fluid level.
