Premenstrual dysphoric disorder is common in 5 to 8% of women of reproductive age. It has moderate to severe symptoms, including mood changes and behavioral, psychological, and physical indications such as cramps, bloating, and tender breasts. Based on the symptoms, premenstrual dysphoric disorder is categorized with criteria of diagnosis into types A, B, C, and D. Symptomatic treatments such as the use of antidepressants, birth control pills, nutritional supplements, physical exercise, and lifestyle changes help to prevent or minimize the symptoms.
