The Consumer forum has ordered a Bengaluru doctor to pay compensation of Rs 90,000 for prescribing a high dosage of drugs to a patient, despite knowing that it could lead to side effects. The 9-year-old patient had a neurological problem. Her father took her to this neurologist and the treatment was continued as per the doctor’s advice. However, the prescribed dosage of the tablets was very high, due to which she suffered from continuous fever, allergy and eye problem. Her poor parents had to spent nearly Rs 1 lakh for her 14-days treatment.
