Somebody asked me today, is it worth being an Anesthesiologist? I think, if the reward of working with a surgeon to save someone's life and also change someone's life for the better, knowing that you had a significant part to play in the care of a patient without receiving much recognition, is okay with you, you'd be a very happy Anesthesiologist. As an Anesthesiologist, our interactions with the patients are intense but very short lived.

But, the anesthesiologists who work in the intensive care and those who work as chronic pain specialists often see their patients over a lengthy course of time and they have much more interactions with their patients and I think, they're much more happier Anesthesiologist.
