Just a reminder, Drugs which could be used for obstetric hemorrhage: Oxytocin is at the top to be given 5 units. IV slowly followed by infusion ten units per hour. Unfortunately, it produces hypotension and reflex tachycardia. Ergometrine can be tried. Slow IV or IM, give 500 micro grams. It may cause nausea, vomiting and hypertension.
Prostaglandin F2alpha can be given directly into the myometrium. Maximum dose up to 2 mg. It causes bronchospasm. Prostaglandin E1 can be given orally or rectally, around 800 micro grams. But it can produce shivering and occasionally a rise in temperature.
