Pseudophakic Bullous Keratopathy is a condition that develops after cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation, due to damage to the corneal endothelium. This damage impairs the cornea’s ability to maintain proper fluid balance, leading to corneal edema (swelling). As a result, fluid-filled blisters (bullae) form on the corneal surface, which can rupture and cause significant pain. Patients typically experience blurred vision, eye discomfort, tearing, and sensitivity to light. Management includes symptomatic relief with lubricants and hypertonic saline, while severe cases may require corneal transplantation to restore vision.
