I have gone through a lot of articles on the quackery and fake doctors in print media as well as on social media in recent days. This made me ponder over the definition of a quack. The Oxford Dictionary defines Quack as “A person who dishonestly claims to have special knowledge and skill in some field, typically medicine.” In simple words, one can say that a quack is a fraudulent or ignorant pretender to medical skill. If we seriously think over it, then it means that an appendectomy done by MBBS doctor is quackery.
I do not believe that the medical skills come only with the qualifications in the field. The Father of Medicine, Hippocrates was born in the era when there was no concept of formal schooling in medicine.
