The Supreme Court has asked the union government and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to provide an appropriate response and explanation to a contempt petition filed by an NGO. The NGO submitted a petition against doctors going on a strike despite the apex court prohibition. A bench led by the Chief Justice of India has issued a notice on the petition filed by an NGO, which claims that doctors calling up a strike can be detrimental for those seeking medical care and, therefore, the medical fraternity should be refrained from taking such actions in future.
