It is evident that menopause is associated with increased osteoporotic fracture risk. Moreover, a recent observational study has revealed that menopause also has a significant impact on the level and rate of functional decline in women with RA. Therefore, perimenopausal women are prone to increased risk of morbidity and worsening in the speed and degree of functional decline.
