Total adrenalectomy has been the standard treatment for small adrenal masses for years. In recent times, however, partial adrenalectomy is gaining more importance. This article briefly discusses indications, recent technique, and outcome of laparoscopic partial adrenalectomy. Laparoscopic adrenalectomy is the gold standard for the treatment of patients with adrenal tumors with or without local and regional extension.

With several laparoscopic approaches in use, most commonly transperitoneal, the resection is safe and effective in experienced hands with thorough follow-up by the endocrinologist.
