It is quite disheartening when I read that the charm of getting into the medical stream is decreasing in future generations. Articles suggestive of not sending children to medical profession are actually worrying. Meritorious children who become doctors find them in a different situation and feel guilty.What has lead to this status? During our times also all prevalent issues were there but there was some lurking desire to become a doctor and some of us made it with the grace of God. Those were the times when perhaps doctors were given very high respect in social circles.
As we know there is overall degradation in every aspect including social values and respect to elders, high offices and qualified persons.
